***FREE Hospitality Training and work experience course for young people***

Marrickville Youth Resource Centre (MYRC) is currently offering a ***FREE Hospitality Training and work experience course for young people***

The MYRC Hospitality Ready program is FREE for Young people aged 16-24 and will commence on Thursday the 12th of October.

MYRC runs the program in partnership with Canterbury Hurlstone Park School of Hospitality (CHP), Sydney TAFE, Metro Assist, Dress for Success and Lentil as Anything. 

 

This program aims to provide a practical course supporting young people in developing new skills, confidence, accreditation and work experience to gain employment in the hospitality industry.

The program will run between MYRC, the School of Hospitality (CHP) and will also include visits to partnering organisations for work experience and workshops.

 

The program will run over four weeks for two days a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays and includes one shift a week of work experience. 

The program includes:

  • Hospitality theory and training run by CHP (RSA, RCG, Food and Hygiene and coffee making)
  • Work experience at Lentil as Anything, Newtown (One shift a week).
  • Professional clothing/styling for interviews (Dress for Work and Dress for Success).
  • Resume writing and interview skills (Sydney TAFE).

MYRC youth workers will also be available to provide additional support, advice and case work if required.

September/October School Holiday Program at MYRC

It’s almost that time of year again with school holidays just around the corner, and we have a jam packed holiday program for young people aged 12 to 18 years!

These holiday activities include the MYRC open day, Rock Climbing, Swimming day , Movie day, SKYZONE trampoline park,Aerosol Art day and a coastal walk and BBQ.

Priority is given to young people living or going to school in Marrickville, and those from disadvantaged families. We can also support families with payments, please call us to discuss.

We still have vacancies in all activities but they are limited, so get in quick!

Inner West Music Fest donates $3000 to MYRC

Inner West Music Fest has donated $3000 to MYRC. We want to thank Inner West Music Fest for this great donation and support. This donation is going directly towards our new Elevate fitness program.  Elevate supports young people with developing and improving their fitness, health and well being.

Here are some photos from this very successful community festival. We cant wait to get involved next year.

Elevate Fitness Program

Marrickville Youth Resource Centre (MYRC) in partnership with Zeality Fitness and Barnardos Australia present:

‘Elevate’

This is a free 8 week health and fitness program for young people aged between 15 and 24 years old.

This program starts on Monday July 31.

Elevate will take place at MYRC (Jarvie park) on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays between 4 pm and 5.30 pm. This will be a fun group fitness program with a focus on helping you improve your health and well-being.

Henry and Viviana from ‘Zeality Fitness’ will be your trainers. They are qualified personal trainers with extensive experience in group training, professional sports and will teach you correct exercise techniques and routines. This program will provide you with the knowledge and skills to achieve your fitness goals and a healthy lifestyle

All fitness levels welcome.

Places are limited.

Glow Paint Party 2017

MYRC in partnership with Barnardos Australia, Save a Mate, Inner West Council and Marrickville Drug Action Team (CDAT) celebrated Drug Action Week with a Glow Paint Party at MYRC. This drug and alcohol free event on Friday the 16th of June was a great success with lots of young people in attendance and having lots of fun on the dance floor.

Thanks to DJ Danz and all the young people who attended. Everyone looked amazing painted in all the bright colours. MYRC look forward to presenting more late night recreational events through out the year.
