Certificate II Retail Course Starting Soon!

The Certificate II in Retail Services course is for young people aged 16-24.

MYRC will be running the course in partnership with Australian Retail Association in the MYRC hall at 23 Yabsley Ave Marrickville and study will commence on Monday 22nd October

Eligibility criteria:

  • Australian permanent resident or Australian Citizen
  • Age 15 plus and not attending school
  • Receiving Centrelink benefits
  • Medicare card
  • Photo ID or licence or Passport or Birth Certificate

This full qualification course reflects the role of frontline retail team members who use a defined and limited range of operational skills to undertake workplace activities. They are involved in mainly routine and repetitive tasks and work under direct supervision of others.

This qualification provides a pathway to work in a diverse range of retail settings including specialty retailers, supermarkets, department stores and quick service restaurants.

Individuals with this qualification are able to perform roles such as frontline team member, customer service assistant and point-of-sale operator.

The course will run for 7 weeks including 2 weeks of work experience.

MYRC youth workers will also be available to provide additional support, advice and case work if required.

BATTLE LINES: Indoor and Outdoor games day at MYRC

MYRC will host an Indoor and Outdoor Games day featuring Sumo wrestling suits, Giant games, ping pong, table tennis, pool, video games plus FOOD and more!

A partnership between MYRC, Inner west council, Youth off the Streets, Barnardos and NSW police.

FREE from 11-2pm in Jarvie Park, Marrickville.

It will also be a great chance to sign up for the rest of our school holiday program activities!

All ages Welcome.

It’s almost that time of year again with school holidays just around the corner, and we have a jam packed holiday program for young people aged 12 to 18 years!

These holiday activities include the MYRC open day,Battle lines Outdoor/Indoor Games festival at MYRC, Graffiti workshop,Go Karting, Surfing and a Rock climbing plus MORE.

Priority is given to young people living or going to school in Marrickville, and those from disadvantaged families. We may also be able to also support families with payments, please call us to discuss.

We still have vacancies in all activities but they are very limited, so get in quick!
 
Please DOWNLOAD and complete the Permission Slip and relevant waivers if coming Go Karting, Surfing or Rock climbing and return it to MYRC

***FREE Hospitality Training and work experience course for young people***

MYRC Hospitality Ready Program is FREE for Young people aged 16-24 and will commence on Thursday the 8th of February.

 

MYRC runs the program in partnership with Canterbury Hurlstone Park School of Hospitality (CHP), Sydney TAFE, Metro Assist, Dress for Success and Lentil as Anything. 

This program aims to provide a practical course supporting young people in developing new skills, confidence, accreditation and work experience to gain employment in the hospitality industry.

The program will run between MYRC, the School of Hospitality (CHP) and will also include visits to partnering organisations for work experience and workshops.

 

The program will run over four weeks for two days a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays and includes one shift a week of work experience. 

 

The program includes:

  • Hospitality theory and training run by CHP (RSA, RCG, Food and Hygiene and coffee making)
  • Work experience at Lentil as Anything, Newtown (One shift a week).
  • Professional clothing/styling for interviews (Dress for Work and Dress for Success).
  • Resume writing and interview skills (Sydney TAFE).

 

MYRC youth workers will also be available to provide additional support, advice and case work if required.
